“Oh shit! The band playing at our event is actually VERY good!”. That’s what I remember thinking to myself at the moment I realised that we might have organised a cool party.
When we got a message from Thomas (the drummer for “The Fiends of Dope Island”) asking if they could play at our event we just said YES. We were SO happy that someone was willing to play. The only criteria we had for a band to play at our event, was that they wanted to play at our event. The Fiends of Dope Island met this criteria 🙂
As soon as the band started playing they really got the party started. They were great. It created a wonderful atmosphere that lasted for the rest of the night.
At the time of writing we raised just over €3000. Thanks to everyone that came along and everyone that donated towards this cause. It was amazing that we raised lots of money and managed to have a good time too.
We are so grateful to all the people that contributed their time to make the event a big success. Whether it was the band, the DJs, people behind the bar, serving food, making food, preparing the venue, taking photos, helping with the music/sound, chopping wood, burning wood or finally cleaning all up all the mess we made – we are very grateful that you were there.
It is also worth pointing out that we could not have raised so much money if it wasn’t for the help and generosity of many businesses in Amsterdam. For example all the food that was served was cooked using donated ingredients. We didn’t have to pay for anything.

As a reminder, Cycle for Good raises money so that 47 Burmese refugee children can go to school, have food to eat and a place to sleep. They all left Myanmar without their parents and now live in Mae La Oon refugee camp where the money you donate goes directly to supporting them.
Each year we need to raise approximately €7500. Here is a quick overview of how some of that money is used:
€10: Food for 1 child for a month
€20: School, food and shelter for one child for a month
€30: School fees for one child for a year
€60: Half a year of food for one child
